Back by popular demand!
I updated the Linux STIG SRR Viewer originally released here to incorporate some of the community requests.
New Features:
- Fancy Splash Screen (not a request, but still new)
- Added an POA&M export based on the DIACAP portal template.
- Fixed CSV output to, well, work properly
- Created Quickstart Instructions
Outstanding issue:
- I received an issue about the app crashing with the latest SRR. If you see that, check your results file for special characters. Most likely you’ll see what looks like arrows…delete them. This is a bug with the STIG script putting non UTF-8 characters in the results file. (For those playing the geek-home-game, you’re looking for the escape character 0x1B)
QUICKSTART INSTRUCTIONS
Until I get around to creating a pretty users manual for the SRR viewer I offer the following.
AFTER YOU RUN THE SRR…
- Copy the PDI-DB file from the SRR script root directory to your windows box.
- Copy the results file generated by the SRR script
- Launch the SRR Viewer
- You will be prompted for the location of the PDI-DB file; select it and continue. Note, if you put the PDI-DB file in the same location as the SRR executable, it will automatically load.
- Select File->Open SRR Results XML->Select your XML results file
- You can browse the results in the app and generate a CSV or POAM output file. Save them BOTH as .csv files…!
Well, that’s it for now. Enjoy…

Hello, I’m not really familiar with Unix/Linux at all. I do not know what or where this PDI DB file is…I”m trying to learn.
Please explain. This is actually my first time using the SRR, I”m more of a Retina/ GoldDisk type of techie,
Sorry for the delayed response. You can find the PDI DB file in the SRR distro. It’s basically a text file with all the checks possible listed in it.
Is there a PDI-DB for SQL Server? I can’t find it in my SRR Tool folder.
