I recently ran across a blog by Meg Guiseppi with a lot of great information about managing your personal “brand”. The idea is that in this Internet-enabled (dependent?) world, the traditional strategies of sending a resume to a head-hunter are simply outdated. Everyone has heard about the social networking sited like Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc… But how many of us effectively use these sites to manage the public perception of ourselves and our work?
It’s no coincidence that this is my first post in a while and it’s a post about creating a personal brand. Meg’s blog inspired me to revamp my old blog and turn it into a Visual CV as well as a blog. Getting started, I would recommend anyone check out her blog Executive Resume Branding (more links below). If you decide to pursue this, take a look at two free services VisualCV and WordPress to get you started.
